  Celebrated for her sonorous tone, compelling interpretations and flawless technique, Francesca Dego is one of the most sought-after violinists on the international scene. She is signed exclusively to Chandos Records and her most recent release of Mozart Violin Concertos Nos. 3 and 4 conducted by Sir Roger Norrington with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra was received to unanimous critical acclaim, including BBC Music Magazine 5* “Record of the month” in November 2021. Other releases include concertos by Paganini and Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari alongside the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Daniele Rustioni, the recital discs Il Cannone and Suite Italienne, as well as a complete survey of the violin sonatas by Beethoven and of Paganiniʼs Caprices, for Deutsche Grammophon. 

  Francesca regularly appears with major orchestras worldwide including performances with the Philharmonia, Hallé, Ulster, Royal Philharmonic, and Royal Scottish National Orchestras; Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, National Symphony Orchestra (Washington, D.C.), Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra; Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, Orchestrede chambre de Lausanne, Teatro Carlo Felice Genova at St.Petersburgʼs renowned Stars of the White Nights festival, Teatro Regio di Torino, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and all the major Italian orchestras; Orquestra de Sevilla and de la Comunitat Valenciana at Palau de les Arts; Auckland Philharmonia, Oviedo Philharmonic, Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Santa Barbara Symphony, Het Gelders Orkest, and the Orkest van het Oosten. 

  Francesca also has a passion for contemporary music and counts herself a dedicatee of the works of, amongst others, Michael Nyman, Carlo Boccadoro, Cristian Carrara, Nicola Campogrande, and Marco Taralli. She is a frequent contributor to specialist music magazines, penning a monthly column for Suonare News among others, and has written articles and opinion pieces for the BBC and Classical Music Magazines, The Strad, Musical Opinion and Strings Magazine. Francesca has also recently published her first book, Tra le Note. Classica: 24 chiavi di lettura, with Mondadori in which she explores how classical music can be listened to and better understood today. 

  Francesca is based in London, and plays on a precious Francesco Ruggeri violin (Cremona 1697). 

  Célébrée pour la richesse de sa sonorité, ses interprétations exigeantes et une technique éblouissante, Francesca Dego est une des violonistes de la jeune génération les plus demandées sur la scène internationale. Elle a récemment signé chez Chandos Records et son premier disque pour ce label a rendu hommage à Niccolo Paganini et son héritage avec des œuvres inspirées par le grand violoniste et quʼelle joue sur le violon du compositeur « il Cannone ». 

  Parmi ses enregistrements précédents chez Deutsche Grammophon on peut citer les concertos de Paganini et Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari avec le City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestre et Daniele Rustioni (2017) et un disque de récital intitulé « La Suite Italienne ». Les deux ont reçu un accueil enthousiaste.

  Canadian conductor Jordan de Souza recently completed a four-year term at Komische Oper Berlin conducting new productions of Pelléas et Mélisande, La bohème, Weinberger’s Frühlingsstürme, and Candide.

  Recent concert appearances have included Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the world premiere of Simon Bertrand’s Weltengeist and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9 with Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. In the current season, he will return to conduct Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and make debuts with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the NAC Orchestra, and the Orchestra della Toscana. A highlight next season will be his London concert debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, following a successful collaboration in 2021 with them conducting Der Rosenkavalier.

  Jordan has conducted Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer at Nationaltheater Mannheim, La bohème at Glyndebourne Festival, Die Zauberflöte at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Rigoletto for Houston Grand Opera, Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas at Chicago Lyric Opera, and Don Giovanni at Opernhaus Zürich. Opera appearances in the current season include Tristan and Isolde (Seattle Opera), Carmen (Dutch National Opera), La Périchole (Theater an der Wien), and La bohème (Deutsche Oper Berlin).

  Born in Toronto, Jordan studied conducting at McGill University, Montreal, and on graduating, joined the McGill faculty. He was also Conductor in Residence of Tapestry Opera in Toronto, conducting three world premieres.

  Yosuke Kawasaki currently serves as Concertmaster of the NAC Orchestra. His versatile musicianship allows him to pursue a career in orchestra, solo, and chamber music. His orchestral career began with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra and soon led to the Mito Chamber Orchestra, Saito Kinen Orchestra, and Japan Century Orchestra, all of which he led as concertmaster. His solo and chamber music career spans five continents, collaborating with artists such as Seiji Ozawa, Pinchas Zukerman, and Yo-Yo Ma, and appearing in the world’s most prestigious halls such as Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall, and the Royal Concertgebouw.

  Kawasaki’s current regular ensembles are Trio Ink and the Mito String Quartet. His passion for chamber music led to his appointment as Music Director to the Affinis Music Festival in Japan. He is also an artistic advisor to a new chamber music festival, Off the Beaten Path, in Bulgaria.

  As an educator Kawasaki has given masterclasses and performed side by side with students in schools across Canada. Well-versed in the string quartet literature he was entrusted by Seiji Ozawa as the youngest faculty member of the Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy at the age of 26. He was also an adjunct professor of violin at the University of Ottawa School of Music from 2013 to 2022 alongside the beloved pedagogue Yehonatan Berick.

  Kawasaki began his violin studies at the age of six with his father Masao Kawasaki and Setsu Goto. He was subsequently accepted into The Juilliard School Pre-College Division and further continued his education and graduated from The Juilliard School in 1998 under the tutorship of Dorothy DeLay, Hyo Kang, Felix Galimir, and Joel Smirnoff.

  Yosuke Kawasaki est violon solo de l’Orchestre du CNA. Sa polyvalence artistique lui a permis de faire carrière en musique symphonique, en musique de chambre et comme soliste. Comme musicien d’orchestre, il a fait ses débuts à l’Orchestre symphonique de Montgomery. Il a ensuite été violon solo à l’Orchestre de chambre Mito, à l’Orchestre Saito Kinen et au Japan Century Orchestra. Comme artiste solo et chambriste, il a fait carrière sur cinq continents.   Canadian violinist of German and Lebanese ancestry, Jessica Linnebach has established herself as an accomplished artist with a thriving multi-faceted career encompassing solo, chamber, and orchestral performances.  

  Known for her “burnt caramel sound, utterly fearless virtuosity...and romantic lyricism” (Artsfile), Jessica has performed as soloist with orchestras around the world. A passionate chamber musician, Jessica is a member of the Ironwood String Quartet along with her NAC Orchestra colleagues Emily Kruspe, Carissa Klopoushak, and Rachel Mercer. They are frequent performers at various chamber music series and festivals, including the WolfGANG and the NAC’s Music for a Sunday Afternoon series, as well as Ottawa ChamberFest, Pontiac Enchanté, Ritornello, and Classical Unbound festivals. As part of a commitment to reaching broader audiences, Jessica is one of the Artistic Directors of the Classical Unbound Festival, a chamber music festival in Prince Edward County, Ontario.  

  Accepted to the world-renowned Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia at age 10, Jessica remains one of the youngest ever Bachelor of Music graduates in the history of the school. While there, Jessica’s primary teachers were Aaron Rosand, Jaime Laredo, and Ida Kavafian. At 18, she received her Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City where she studied with Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec. 

  Jessica resides in Ottawa where she has held the position of Associate Concertmaster with the NAC Orchestra since 2010. A natural leader, Jessica has performed numerous times as guest Concertmaster with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.  

  Jessica plays a circa 1840 Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (Guarnerius del Gésu 1737) violin. Her bows are crafted by Ron Forrester and Michael Vann.

  Since its debut in 1969, the National Arts Centre (NAC) Orchestra has been praised for the passion and clarity of its performances, its visionary educational programs, and its prominent role in nurturing Canadian creativity. Under the leadership of Music Director Alexander Shelley, the NAC Orchestra reflects the fabric and values of Canada, reaching and representing the diverse communities we live in with daring programming, powerful storytelling, inspiring artistry, and innovative partnerships.

  Alexander Shelley began his tenure as Music Director in 2015, following Pinchas Zukerman’s 16 seasons at the helm. Principal Associate Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and former Chief Conductor of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra (2009–2017), he has been in demand around the world, conducting the Rotterdam Philharmonic, DSO Berlin, Leipzig Gewandhaus, and Stockholm Philharmonic, among others, and maintains a regular relationship with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie and the German National Youth Orchestra.

  Each season, the NAC Orchestra features world-class artists such as the newly appointed Artist-in-Residence James Ehnes, Angela Hewitt, Joshua Bell, Xian Zhang, Gabriela Montero, Stewart Goodyear, Jan Lisiecki, and Principal Guest Conductor John Storgårds. As one of the most accessible, inclusive, and collaborative orchestras in the world, the NAC Orchestra uses music as a universal language to communicate the deepest of human emotions and connect people through shared experiences.

  Saskatchewan conductor Maria Fuller is a rising star on the international music scene, praised for her “fiery and dynamic” performances (The Walleye Magazine) and “subtle control, careful focus, and thorough professionalism…” (Chronical-Journal of Thunder Bay). Sought after as a conductor, pianist, vocal coach, trumpeter, composer, and arranger, Maria brings an unparalleled energy and infectious joy to her craft on and off the podium. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano from McGill University, a Master of Music in Piano, an Artist Diploma in Operatic Coaching, and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). Maria was the 2019 David Effron Conducting Fellow at the renowned Chautauqua Institute, and competed in the inaugural La Maestra International Conducting Competition in Paris in 2020. In the 2022–23 season, Maria is a conductor fellow in Tapestry Opera’s Women in Musical Leadership Program.

  Louée pour ses performances dynamiques et explosives (magazine The Walleye) et pour son contrôle subtil, son attention particulière et son professionnalisme à toute épreuve (The Chronical Journal, Thunder Bay), la chef d’orchestre saskatchewanaise Maria Fuller est une étoile montante de la scène musicale internationale. Cette chef d’orchestre, pianiste, professeure de chant, trompettiste, compositrice et arrangeuse recherchée infuse dans son art une énergie inégalée et une joie contagieuse, sur scène comme ailleurs. Maria est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en musique (piano) de l’Université McGill, d’une maîtrise en musique (piano), d’un diplôme d’études supérieur en enseignement opératique et d’une autre maîtrise en musique (direction d’orchestre) du collège-conservatoire de musique de l’Université de Cincinnati. Titulaire de la bourse David Effron en orchestration du renommé Institut Chautauqua en 2019, elle a également participé au premier concours international de cheffes d’orchestre La Maestra à Paris, en 2020.
