Philippe Chaput

Philippe Chaput completed his master’s in double bass in 2023 under Joel Quarrington at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, the same institution where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2021. Philippe was presented with an Award of Excellence from the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in 2020, took part in the first two iterations of Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra’s brand-new Mentorship Program in 2021 and 2022, and attended a chamber orchestra study program at Domaine Forget de Charlevoix with Les Violons du Roy. He also played with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal in their brand-new Orchestral Immersion program in 2022. More recently, he was mentored under Les Violons du Roy’s new Émergence program, participating in a production of Handel’s opera Alcina with Karina Gauvin, conducted by Jonathan Cohen.
