Listen to the Hinterview with Peter Hinton.
A National Arts Centre English Theatre/Citadel Theatre (Edmonton) coproduction of the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company production
"Let’s disappear for a while into the decadent period of the 1920s, where the champagne flowed, the caviar chilled and all the world was a party." – Man in Chair
A Broadway star. A desperate producer. Gangsters, hi-jinks and madcap misunderstandings. It’s a toe-tapping trip back to the Jazz era and golden age of 1920’s musicals—with a modern twist. A great kick off to the NAC English Theatre’s 40th anniversary season, The Drowsy Chaperone is fast, funny and was the first Canadian musical to win five Tony Awards in 2006. Perhaps the Globe and Mail summed it up best when it called the show "big, brassy and stupidly fun... you won’t be disappointed." Not to be missed.
"…packs more fun into one act than most shows do in two." The Vancouver Sun
Did You Know?
1) Playwright Bob Martin played the original Man in Chair when the musical premiered at the Toronto Fringe Festival and played the role on Broadway?
2) The names of the couple in the production are also the same names of the couple the show was written for?
